How to take photos & edit them for our partnership

Taking photos for your website isn’t just about snapping a few quick shots. You’ve got to pay attention to lighting, composition, and clarity if you want to really show off your products or services.

 

The goal? Create images that look polished and line up with your brand’s vibe. It’s not as easy as it sounds, but it’s worth the effort.

 

The key to solid website photos is using natural light, sticking with clean backgrounds, and catching details that say “quality” and “trust.” If you get the framing and sharpness right, visitors understand what you offer in a split second.

 

What to do

  • Wipe the camera lens before every shoot
  • Use natural light (morning or late afternoon is best)
  • Shoot both vertical and horizontal formats
  • Take wide, medium, and close-up shots
  • Keep the background clean and uncluttered
  • Make sure the subject is in focusnd clean and uncluttered

What NOT to do

  • Don’t shoot under harsh midday sunlight or with strong shadows
  • Don’t use zoom — move closer instead
  • Don’t leave clutter in the background
  • Don’t tilt the camera (keep shots level)
  • Don’t apply filters or heavy edits
  • Don’t take just one photo — always capture multiple angles

Taking Before & After Photos?

The rules change a little here, but they are pretty much the same. Just make sure of the following:

  • Mark the EXACT location you took your "BEFORE" shot.
  • Take the "After" photo in the same EXACT location as your "Before" photo.
  • Make sure both photos are taken at the same time of day
  • Both photos must be in the same orientation. You can take more variations, but make sure you have two of the same orientation (Eg: One horizontal before & one horizontal after)

Videos for your website

You may be tempted to just catch videos in vertical format, but if you want it to be used as decoration on your website, also shoot in landscape (horizontal) mode. 

  • Use horizontal (landscape) orientation only
  • Record in 1080p or higher (4K preferred if available)
  • Film in natural light or use soft lighting — avoid harsh shadows
  • Keep the camera steady — use a tripod or stable surface
  • Include a mix of wide shots, close-ups, and action shots (e.g., working, interacting)
  • Don’t film in vertical unless it’s for social media
  • Don’t shoot in dark or uneven lighting
  • Don’t use music playing in the background (copyright issues)
  • Don’t speak too far from the mic — voices must be clear and audible
  • Don’t apply filters or heavy edits
  • Don’t use fast pans or shaky handheld shots
